..Sukubo Appeals to South-West Zone for Support Ahead of NYCN Re-Election Bid

 

…Endorses President Tinubu for 2nd Term

The incumbent President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, has promised that, if re-elected, he will leverage emerging digital innovations to drive effective youth leadership, sustainable youth development, and empowerment, tailored to the needs of Nigerian youths in this contemporary era.

This is as the President of National Youth Council of Nigeria Amb. Sukubo endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a 2nd term in office in 2027.
 
Amb. Sukubo is seeking a fresh term of four-years in the National Elective Congress of the National Youth Council of Nigeria slated for 19th to 21st September, 2025.

Speaking at a meeting in Ibadan, Oyo State with Stakeholders of NYCN of the South-West geopolitical zone to solicit support, Amb. Sukubo pledged to harness the energy and creativity of young people across the country while also amplifying their voices for national growth and development if given another term.
 
He expressed appreciation to the governments and people of the South-West geopolitical zone, particularly youth leaders in the region, for their invaluable contributions in shaping the landscape of Nigeria's youth constituency. 

“My decision to consult widely with key stakeholders in the South-West zone and solicit their support for my re-election bid was informed by the immense impact of the zone in the future of Nigerian youth“.
 
“I have always ensured that the South-West zone has the highest representation in the National Executive Committee of NYCN, given the enormous support I enjoyed from the zone and the strategic importance of the region to national development and youth empowerment“.

The President of NYCN also said he has built a broad coalition of support that transcends regional and cultural divides, fostering a sense of belonging and inclusivity.
He said this enables him to connect with diverse stakeholders and promote a shared vision for Nigerian youth.

Amb. Sukubo expressed confidence that, as he seeks re-election, the relationships he has nurtured in the South-West Zone over time will translate into widespread support and a decisive victory for him at the National Elective Congress.

On the 2027 Presidency, Amb. Sukubo said the National Youth Council of Nigeria, under his leadership, is fully in support of President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid for continuity and consolidation. 

He argued that, given the uninterrupted two terms of the late President Buhari from the North, it is only fair and just for the South to be allowed to complete its two terms in office through President Tinubu's re-election.

Amb. Sukubo downplayed criticism of President Tinubu's performance, noting that Nigerians often say someone else would have done better than a sitting President.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Chairman of the Forum of State Chairmen of NYCN and Oyo State Chairman, Comr. Abdulsalam Abdulquadri, reaffirmed the South-West zone's unwavering support and loyalty to the National Executive Committee of the National Youth Council under the leadership of Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe. 

He assured that the zone is fully committed to Amb. Sukubo's re-election bid and is working assiduously with other geopolitical zones to secure his landslide victory at the National Elective Congress.
Comr. Abdulquadri emphasized that the South-West zone's support is rooted in Amb. Sukubo's proven track record of dedication to youth development and empowerment. 

He expressed confidence that Amb. Sukubo's re-election would further strengthen NYCN's impact across the country.

Also speaking, a prominent leader of NYCN in the South-West Zone and convener of the meeting, Comr. Olalekan James, condemned attempts by some impostors to unlawfully remove the Amb. Sukubo-led National Executives of the Youth Council. 

He sound it loud and clear that the Sukubo-led National Executives can only be removed from office through constitutional means—in a National Elective Congress and not through any unconstitutional or kangaroo process.

Comr. James said the South-West has always been a pacesetter and pathfinder in the National Youth Council of Nigeria, playing a critical role in deciding its national leadership.
He also re-affirmed the support of the zone to the Sukubo-led National Executive while also endorsing his re-election bid.

In his remarks, the Director General of Sukubo's re-election campaign, Comr. Temple Chinedu Chika asked for support from NYCN stakeholders in the South-West zone.

He described Amb. Sukubo as a dogged national youth leader with an uncommon passion for youth development and empowerment. 

Comr. Temple Chika emphasized that Amb. Sukubo has the best interests of young people of the country at heart, consistently demonstrating capacity and commitment to their welfare and advancement.

The Sukubo Campaign DG also asserted that in the annals of the National Youth Council of Nigeria's history, there has never been a selfless President like Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe.
