NLO division one side, A&A Kiviasennus of Nnewi are holding tightly to the top position in the ongoing Anambra NLO Clubs pre season football tournament which enters its match day three today, Sunday, 7 April, 2024, at Rojenny Stadium, Oba, near Onitsha.
After a 2-0 win against Rangels on the opening day of the pre season tournament, A&A on Saturday edged past Hopeland 1-0 to maintain a perfect start in the tournament.
Ugochukwu Nwosu, who got his side's first goal in the 2-0 win against Rangels on the opening day, was again on the scores sheet as his strike earned Coach Ben Lotanna side all three points against Hopeland.
A&A now has six points while Rangels and St Nwadinso have three points each going into today's match day three fixtures.
It will be a big cracker today when A&A file out against St Nwadinso at the Rojenny Stadium.
Taking an assessment overview of his team, Coach Lotanna said his team is gradually taking shape ahead the NLO Playoffs in the coming weeks.
"This is a pre season tournament meant to help build the team. We've (NLO) big tournament coming up and I would say this one is helping us in assessing our level of preparation.
"So far, we haven't done badly but that's not as much as saying that we've arrived. I can only say the team is gradually taking shape but there are still areas to be corrected", Lotanna said, even as he warns his players against over confidence going into the game with St Nwadinso who he said, are a tough side.
"It's a pre season tournament so nobody should allow it get into his head. Today, we're playing against St Nwadinso and you know they are a strong side.
"Yes, they lost to Rangels, who we earlier defeated, but that doesn't take anything away from their quality", he emphasised.
