Nasarawa Amazons FC produced a disciplined and spirited performance to secure a valuable away point against Confluence Queens FC in a Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership clash played on Wednesday at the Edo State University Pitch, Iyamu, Auchi, Edo State.

 

The Christopher Danjuma-tutored side arrived in Auchi looking to build on their Matchday 6 victory over Osun Babes FC in Lafia, and they approached the game with confidence, grit, and determination. The visitors pressed early for a breakthrough, but it was the home side that struck first.

 

Confluence Queens were awarded a penalty in the 10th minute after a handball in the box, and Tseeser Seember calmly converted to give the hosts an early lead.

 

Despite conceding, Nasarawa Amazons stayed composed. Their defensive unit—Adesoji Esther, Jones Imoh, Abdulwahaab Faridat, and Alani Jumoke—stood firm, cutting out dangerous attacks and winning key duels to keep the scoreline manageable.

 

In goal, Unachukwu Udoka delivered an outstanding performance, making several crucial saves to deny the hosts and keep the Amazons in the contest with her alert positioning and confident handling.

 

The midfield trio of Igbokwe Joy, Shobowale Olushola, and Isaiah controlled the tempo of the game, breaking up play effectively and launching purposeful attacks.

 

The first half ended with Confluence Queens holding a slender 1–0 advantage.

 

In the second half, Nasarawa Amazons increased the tempo as Coach Christopher Danjuma made tactical changes to strengthen the attack. Odoh replaced Shobowale, while Lot Daniella came on for Moses Farkikyen around the 65th minute. Later in the 75th minute, Etim Favor replaced Ayatsea, and Ogunfuwa Omotoke came on for Omosuyi to further boost the offensive push.

 

The pressure finally paid off in the 88th minute when Alani Jumoke received a swift pass from Igbokwe Joy and threaded a precise through ball to Ogunfuwa Omotoke, who calmly slotted home a well-taken equaliser. The visiting bench erupted in celebration as the match headed into its closing moments.

 

The game ended 1–1, with both teams sharing the spoils.

 

After the match, Technical Adviser Coach Christopher Danjuma Musa praised his team’s resilience while acknowledging the strength of the opposition.

 

“First, I must commend the technical crew of Confluence Queens. They are a disciplined and tactical side. Any team that can go to Lagos and score three goals against Dannaz Ladies deserves respect,” he said.

 

“We came here hoping for a win, but securing a point away from home is commendable. The girls showed character and belief until the very end.”

 

The draw keeps Nasarawa Amazons’ campaign on track as they continue their push up the NWFL Premiership table.
