The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has issued a strong warning to Premiership clubs lagging behind in completing their digital registration and licensing procedures ahead of the new season, stressing that defaulters risk sanctions — including possible relegation.

 

In a statement released on Tuesday by the NWFL Media Director, Samuel Ahmadu, the league disclosed that Castmog Ladies, Osun Babes, and Naija Ratels are among the teams yet to fulfil the mandatory requirements on the league’s digital portal.

 

The NWFL had earlier set November 22 as the final deadline for all clubs to complete documentation, financial submissions, and licensing processes. According to the board, the procedures are part of wider reforms aimed at fully professionalising women’s football in Nigeria and improving transparency across all administrative frameworks.

 

NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, reaffirmed that the deadline remains unchanged and warned that the league would not hesitate to enforce penalties on non-compliant clubs.

 

“The digital registration and licensing process is designed to ensure that every club meets the minimum professional standards required to compete,” Shabi said.

 

“We expect full compliance before the November 22 deadline. Any club that fails to meet these financial and administrative obligations will face the consequences as outlined in our regulations. Our commitment is to run a credible, properly structured league.”

 

Shabi further emphasised that the November 26 kickoff date remains sacrosanct, adding that delays from clubs will not derail the league schedule.

 

The NWFL reiterated its readiness to enforce regulatory provisions strictly in order to protect the integrity of the competition and ensure a smooth start to the 2025 Premiership season.
