The executive of the NWFL Premiership Media Directors Forum has extended warm congratulations to the six clubs that have qualified for the 2024/2025 NWFL Super Six playoffs, scheduled to take place in Ikenne, Ogun State, from May 8 to 17.

 

The Forum hailed Rivers Angels, Edo Queens, Bayelsa Queens, Remo Stars Ladies, Nasarawa Amazons, and Naija Ratels for their outstanding performances during the regular season, stating that their progression to the playoffs was a testament to their strength, consistency, and excellence throughout the campaign.

 

“These six teams have proven their mettle during the regular season and their emergence from the two groups shows, without doubt, that they are the best in the land,” the Forum stated in a press release on Saturday.

 

The Forum also extended best wishes to the competing teams ahead of the title-deciding event and emphasized the importance of fair play and sportsmanship as the cornerstone of the competition.

 

“We pray fervently that fair play and sportsmanship will be the order of the day, ensuring the very best among them emerges champion.”

 

Among the six contenders, Remo Stars Ladies will be making their debut appearance at the prestigious Super Six playoffs, while Naija Ratels make their second appearance. Rivers Angels, Bayelsa Queens, and reigning champions Edo Queens are seasoned campaigners, each having previously lifted the title and represented Nigeria on the continental stage.

 

The Ikenne showdown will not only determine the new NWFL Premiership champions but will also produce Nigeria’s representative at the WAFU B qualifiers for a place in the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League.

 

The Forum also commended all 16 clubs that participated in the recently concluded NWFL regular season, acknowledging their spirited efforts and contributions to the growth of women’s football in Nigeria.

 

“To the entire 16-team NWFL Premiership, we extend our warmest sporting regards for a commendable and passionate campaign. We wish them the very best in their future endeavors.”
