Matchday 5 of the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership saw an action-packed set of fixtures across the country, with Edo Queens, Adamawa Queens, Ekiti Queens, and Remo Stars Ladies all securing dominant victories, while Rivers Angels and Delta Queens were held to draws.

In Benin City, Edo Queens continued their impressive run with a 2-0 victory over Nasarawa Amazons. Mary Mamudu (23’) and Goodness Osigwe (25’) scored in quick succession to secure all three points for the hosts.

Adamawa Queens made a fast start in Gombe, netting twice within the opening eight minutes to seal a 2-0 win over Benue Queens. Loveth Boiygyande (7’) and Mary Nnenna Ossai (8’) were on target as the hosts maintained control throughout the match.

At the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Bolaji Olamide was the star of the show, netting a brace (33’ PK, 85’) as Remo Stars Ladies cruised to a 2-0 win against Abia Angels.

In Lagos, FC Robo Queens defeated Ibom Angels 2-1 in a closely contested match. Mariam Yahaya (68’) opened the scoring for the hosts before Godsgift Afigbediotor’s own goal (78’) brought Ibom back into the game. However, Ugobest Osuji (84’) struck late to hand FC Robo the victory.

• Ekiti Queens secured a 2-0 win over Confluence Queens in Ado-Ekiti, thanks to goals from Rashidat Salau (55’) and Patience Yaro (90’).

• Naija Ratels were held to a 1-1 draw by Delta Queens in Abuja, with both teams scoring inside the first ten minutes. Bunmi Oladeji (7’) put the hosts ahead before Ifobere Destiny (9’) equalized.

• Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens played out a 1-1 draw in Port Harcourt. Peace Effiong (10’) gave Rivers an early lead, but Zainab Olapade (27’) ensured Bayelsa Queens left with a point.

The only match without a goal was in Owerri, where Heartland Queens and Dannaz Ladies battled to a 0-0 draw.

As the season progresses, teams are jostling for position in the race for the NWFL Premiership title and potential Super Six qualification. With some dominant performances and crucial draws, the competition remains wide open heading into Matchday 6.
