Matchday 11 of the Nigeria Women Football League returned on Wednesday with exciting games and a record of away wins for Edo Queens and Rivers Angels.

The first match of the day was in Aba where the resurgent Ahudiyannem Queens spanked Osun Babes 3-0. Grace Aaron scored twice from the center back position while Nwabueze Charles who joined from Abia Angels scored one in a game that was largely dominated by the home side who are led by Adanna Nwaneri.

 

Abia Angels failed to ride on the good result from their sisters in the first game at the Enyimba Stadium with a 0-0 draw against Remo Stars Ladies who were reduced to 10 ladies in the second half.

 

In Makwada, Adamawa Queens beat Ekiti Queens 2-1 with goals from Ifeoma Damian and Godwin Favour. Experienced striker, Winifred Eyebhoria reduced the deficit for the visitors in the 85th minute.

 

In Bwari, Abuja, Rivers Angels took the maximum points. Free scoring Abasiofon Uwah opened scoring for the Jewel of Rivers in the 14th minute before Grace Saliu scored against her former team to seal victory for the visitors.

 

In Akure, Sunshine Queens were held to a 0-0 draw by Delta Queens. While in Iyamho, Confluence Queens were held 1-1 by FC Robo. The home side won their last away game against Abia Angels in Aba but could not maximize home advantage to get two consecutive victories. Teen sensation, Kemi Adegbuyi got the opener in the 28th minute for Robo but Vincental Ezeani restored parity for Confluence Queens from the spot in the 42nd minute.

 

In Lafia, Deborah Onyekachi broke the hearts of a resilient Dannaz Ladies with a winner in the fifth minute of additional time to give Nasarawa Amazons a laboured 1-0 victory.

 

In Ibadan, it was another story of doggedness to the final moments as Olaronke Ola scored in the sixth minute of extra time to draw the game 1-1 for Pacesetter Queens against Edwin Okon’s Ibom Angels, after Ibom Angels went ahead in the 13th through an own goal by Olufunke Taiwo of Pacesetter Queens.

 

In Owerri, Edo Queens continued their fine form with a 1-0 victory over hosts, Heartland Queens. Kafayat Mafisere’s solitary strike was enough for Edo Queens to take victory back to Benin, where they crushed Bayelsa Queens 4-1 last week.

 

Matchday 12 will be played next week as Bayelsa Queens will see action after being drawn bye on Matchday 11.
