Head coach of Bendel Insurance, Kennedy Boboye, has been handed a 17-match suspension and fined ₦2 million following an incident of gross misconduct during his team’s clash with Plateau United.

 

The sanction, confirmed by the league’s disciplinary body, stems from an altercation involving the experienced tactician and a match official during the weekend fixture at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium. Boboye was found to have acted inappropriately toward the referee, in violation of regulations governing the conduct of team officials.

 

According to reports, the disciplinary panel ruled that his actions constituted a serious breach, warranting both a substantial suspension and financial penalty. The decision highlights the league’s firm stance on enforcing discipline, respect, and professionalism in Nigerian football.

 

The 17-match ban sidelines Boboye for a significant portion of the season, dealing a major blow to Bendel Insurance’s campaign as they navigate upcoming fixtures without their head coach on the touchline.
