NPFL Matchday 4: Nasarawa United Edge Wikki Tourists 1-0 to Climb League Table
Nasarawa United extended their unbeaten run at home in the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi at the Lafia City Stadium on Sunday evening.
The Solid Miners, led by coach Mangut Mbwas, showed grit and tactical discipline to grab all three points in front of their home supporters, thanks to a 37th-minute strike from Garba Mohammed. The youngster’s decisive goal proved enough to separate the two sides in an intense Matchday 4 encounter.
With this result, Nasarawa United now move up to 5th place on the log, tied on 7 points with Wikki Tourists but boasting a better goal advantage. It’s back-to-back home wins for the Lafia-based side, who also secured a vital 1-1 draw away at Enyimba FC last weekend.
Up next for the Solid Miners is an away fixture against Bayelsa United in Yenagoa next weekend. Bayelsa are coming off a 0-2 home defeat to Enyimba, and United will be hopeful of snatching points on the road. They will return home on Sunday, September 28 to welcome Katsina United in another Northern derby on Matchday 6.
