The NPFL is introducing an U19 Youth League. The elite league organizers  have duly informed all the 20 NPFL clubs that the Youth Football League is  part of effort to improve the capacity of football in the country. 

This is however coming after the Nigerian Nationwide League introduced an U-19 Youth League involving teams in the Division 2 of the NLO. 

In a letter  to various clubs {NPFL},  the league body said  that the upcoming mid-season break, the NPFL will be introducing the youth under 19 league that would be divided into six zones across the country.

"The goal and dream is to expose the talent and  identification which mean the plan seeks to identify and nurture young talents early, ensuring a sustainable pipeline of players for both club and national teams" 

It also said that this is to improve the players consistency and quality. "The plan is to establish consistent standards for coaching, facilities, and player welfare across all Premier League academies" .
