Katsina United head coach, Mohammed Azeez, has praised the condition of the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl pitch in Ilorin following his team’s thrilling 3–2 victory over Enyimba in their NPFL matchday 14 showdown.

 

Azeez dismissed any suggestion that the playing surface affected the match, insisting that the pitch was in excellent shape.

 

“There is nothing wrong with the pitch. Whether I win, lose or draw, I cannot blame the pitch because it has no issue,” he said confidently after the final whistle.

 

The coach added that Katsina United were already familiar with the turf, having played and trained on it recently.

 

“We played here against Kwara United two or three weeks ago. We also had a training session before that match, and my boys didn’t complain about the turf,” he explained.

 

Sunday’s clash was Katsina United’s first appearance in Ilorin since the NPFL ordered the team to play away from their home ground. The sanction followed episodes of unsportsmanlike behaviour by their fans in Katsina, forcing the league body to relocate their fixtures as part of disciplinary measures.
