Reality TV personality and entertainer Ifeyinwa Adewunmi Okafor, popularly known as Ivatar, has strongly pushed back against the negative stereotypes surrounding women who work as video vixens in the entertainment industry.

 

In a candid interview with Pulse Nigeria on Thursday, September 11, 2025, Ivatar expressed frustration over how society often labels vixens as women lacking self-respect or involved in inappropriate relationships with artists.

 

“Not all of us are ashawo,” Ivatar declared. “They think we have no respect or that we sleep with the artist, but that is far from reality.”

 

She explained that being a video vixen is a legitimate form of artistic performance, grounded in expression, movement, and storytelling — not sexual favors or personal affairs.

 

Ivatar’s remarks have since sparked wide discussion on social media, with many Nigerians applauding her for challenging long-standing assumptions and speaking truth to the biases faced by women in entertainment.

 

She noted that while male artists often escape judgment, women in roles like dancers, vixens, and models are heavily scrutinized, often in ways that undermine their professionalism and talent.

 

“We bring life to the videos. We make the visuals memorable. It’s performance, not promiscuity,” she said, stressing that society needs to learn to separate professional work from private life.

 

Ivatar also described her career as a source of creativity, self-expression, and personal growth, and encouraged other women to follow their passion without fear of judgment or stigma.

 

Her bold stance has reignited calls for a more respectful and inclusive approach to women in the creative industry, and for people to stop using outdated moral yardsticks to judge modern artistic roles.

 

“Until people understand that this is work, not weakness, they’ll keep missing the value we bring to the culture,” Ivatar concluded.
