Northern Governors Unite to Address Insecurity in Region
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, Chairman of the Northern States Governors' Forum (NSGF), has reaffirmed the collective commitment of the region's governors to tackle the growing insecurity in Northern Nigeria. Receiving a comprehensive report from the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG), Governor Yahaya expressed deep concern over the impact of insecurity on the livelihoods of millions of Nigerians, particularly in the agricultural sector.
The report, prepared by the Experts Committee on insecurity in northern Nigeria, is a key outcome of a recently concluded roundtable meeting aimed at finding lasting solutions to the security challenges in the region. Governor Yahaya noted that the resulting hike in food prices affects not only the Northern states but the entire nation.
Under his leadership, the NSGF plans to convene an expanded meeting with all relevant stakeholders to discuss and implement strategies that will restore the region's stability and economic prosperity. The meeting aims to take a collective approach to the insecurity issue, studying the report and working together towards its implementation.
The CNG delegation leader, Bashir Yusuf Ibrahim, explained that the report proposes an all-society approach, creating synergy among stakeholders across the region to tackle insecurity.
