Nollywood actress Abiola Adebayo has publicly confirmed her separation from her husband, Oluwaseyi Akinrinde, revealing that the couple quietly parted ways over a year ago and are now committed to peacefully co-parenting their son.

In a heartfelt Instagram post on Tuesday, Adebayo marked her ex-husband’s birthday with a message of goodwill that also served as the first public acknowledgment of their split.

“Happy birthday to my ex-husband and my baby daddy. I pray that grace will abound unto you, I pray you find peace in all your ways. May God continue to light your path and bless you beyond your expectations, in Jesus’ name.”

She added with frank honesty:

“Yes, you heard me right! My husband and I have been separated since April last year, but we have decided to maturely and peacefully co-parent our dear son, who means everything to us.”

In a deeply personal note to her followers, Adebayo expressed regret over the dissolution of the marriage and revealed the emotional weight of the experience.

“To everyone that feels disappointed, I’m sincerely sorry. I wished it worked, but it’s better to stay alive to tell the story. Please keep us in your prayers.”

The actress also shed light on the emotional toll the past year has taken on her despite maintaining a strong and cheerful public image.

“While I go about making other people happy during the day, my pillow is drenched with my own tears almost every night for the past 14 months. But I gain strength from Christ, who loves me eternally and gave Himself for me.”

Calling for compassion, Adebayo urged her fans and the public to be kind, reminding them that everyone faces silent struggles.

“Let’s learn to be kind to people; you have no idea what others are going through until they say it. Say unto the righteous, all is well.”

Support poured in across social media, with fans, friends, and colleagues praising Adebayo’s courage and grace. Nollywood actress Regina Chukwu commented, “Biola… it’s well,” while many others offered prayers and warm words.

The actress married Oluwaseyi Akinrinde in April 2021, following a brief courtship. In 2023, the couple welcomed their first child, a boy, via a surrogate mother — a journey Adebayo had previously described as a dream come true after years of longing for motherhood.

While the end of the marriage marks a painful chapter, Adebayo’s transparency and maturity have earned widespread admiration, reinforcing her image not just as an actress, but as a strong, faith-driven woman navigating life with dignity and heart.
