Popular Yoruba actress Laide Bakare has levelled serious allegations against the Nigerian Police, accusing them of brutality and extortion.

In a social media post that has gone viral, Bakare claims she was targeted by officers along the Ikorodu Expressway on Saturday. Detailing the incident, she said: "For the first time, I experienced the brutal way Nigerians are being treated along that axis."

Bakare went on to express her shock at the officers' actions, stating: "I cannot imagine how someone with a brain and sanity will drive someone's car away with a minor in it."  This suggests the police may have driven her vehicle with her daughter still inside.

The actress further alleges the officers specifically targeted expensive vehicles and vulnerable individuals. "The police targeted only big cars and vulnerable people to exploit and rob," she claimed. Bakare concluded her post by stating that the police allegedly demanded her ATM card and withdrew N70,000.

The Lagos State Police Command has yet to respond to Bakare's accusations.
