Nollywood Actor Jerry Williams Reportedly Arrested, Sparks Concern Over Safety

Popular Nollywood actor Jerry Williams has reportedly been arrested under controversial circumstances, according to Naija News. The incident occurred on the morning of Monday, July 21, 2025, when Williams was allegedly whisked away from his home in Delta State by officers of the Nigerian Police Force.

Reports suggest the arrest was facilitated by one Nwafor Franklin, widely known as Izutech. Fellow actor Stanley Ontop sounded the alarm via a video posted on social media, alleging that Williams was forcefully taken to Benin City, Edo State, and expressing grave concern for his colleague’s safety.

In the video, Stanley accused Izutech of financial misconduct, claiming he owes N2.5 million collected from film producers intending to feature Jerry in upcoming projects. He warned the public and authorities to hold Izutech accountable should anything happen to the actor.

“Izu went to Jerry Williams’ house in the early hours of today, 21st July 2025, and bundled him to Benin with the help of some Nigeria Police. Let it be known that Jerry Williams is in Izu’s custody. If anything happens to Jerry, Izu should be held responsible,” Stanley wrote.

The circumstances surrounding the arrest remain unclear, and there has been no official statement from the police or Izutech as of the time of this report.

The development comes shortly after Jerry Williams re-emerged on the Nollywood scene, following a hiatus reportedly due to rehabilitation related to substance abuse. His comeback had sparked renewed interest in his career and optimism among fans and colleagues.

As concerns grow, many in the entertainment industry and the public at large are calling for transparency and an official explanation regarding Williams’ arrest and current whereabouts.
