LThe Board of the Nigeria National League (NNL) is pleased to announce that the much-anticipated NNL Super 8 tournament will be held in Asaba, Delta State, from July 5 to 12, 2025, at the iconic Stephen Keshi Stadium.

 

Following a highly competitive and successful regular season, eight top teams have emerged to compete for promotion to the elite Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). The qualified teams are:

• Warri Wolves

• Osun United

• Crown FC

• Kun Khalifa FC (Owerri)

• Wikki Tourists

• Yobe Desert Stars

• Doma FC

• Barau FC

 

In a show of strong support for Nigerian football, the Governor of Delta State, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has graciously approved the hosting of the tournament in Asaba. The NNL expressed gratitude to the governor, noting that this gesture further strengthens Delta State’s reputation as a hub for sports development in Nigeria.

 

“We are happy to announce that the sports-loving Governor of Delta State, Hon. Oborevwori, has given approval for the hosting of the NNL Super 8 in Asaba. We’re grateful for this kind gesture, which will further cement the position of Delta State as a leading sporting state in the country,” the NNL stated.

 

“By this gesture, we’re ready to have a successful conclusion to the 2024/2025 season and produce the best teams to compete in the NPFL next season.”

 

Speaking ahead of the tournament, NNL Chairman Mr. George Aluo assured football lovers across the nation of an exciting and professionally organized Super 8.

 

“There will be no dull moment throughout the duration of the Super 8,” Aluo affirmed. “All eight teams have shown quality and resilience to get to this stage, and any of them is capable of securing promotion.”

 

He further noted that the NNL, in collaboration with the Delta State Government, will ensure all logistics are in place to guarantee a smooth and successful tournament.

 

The NNL Super 8 will determine the league champion as well as the four teams that will gain promotion to Nigeria’s top-flight league for the 2025/2026 season.

 

The league body invites fans, stakeholders, and media to witness top-tier football action in Asaba, promising a week of thrilling encounters, raw talent, and the best of Nigeria’s emerging football stars.
