Organizers of Nigeria’s second-tier football league, the Nigeria National League (NNL), in collaboration with the National League Club Owners and Managers Association (NALCOMA), are set to hold a mid-season retreat for clubs participating in the ongoing campaign.

 

The development was confirmed by the Chief Operating Officer of the NNL, Danlami Alanana, who disclosed that the retreat will take place from January 23 to 25 at the Remo Stars Sports Stadium, Ikenne, Ogun State.

 

In a statement made available to the media in Abuja, Alanana said the retreat would bring together all 36 clubs across Conferences A to D, providing an opportunity to review the league’s progress after the completion of the first round of matches.

 

According to him, the retreat is designed as a capacity-building forum aimed at strengthening the league’s structure and overall delivery.

 

“The conference in Ikenne is a capacity-building one aimed at strengthening the league and making it better. With the accolades we are getting and the corporate support coming our way, we cannot afford to rest on our oars. That is why we are heading to the boardroom for a mid-season retreat,” Alanana stated.

 

He explained that stakeholders would take a holistic look at the league’s journey so far, identifying areas that require improvement to further enhance professionalism and competitiveness.

 

Alanana also revealed that renowned football administrators and experts would be on ground to engage club managers on best practices, while corporate partners supporting the league are expected to participate fully in the retreat.

 

He described the event as a unique opportunity for interaction and unity within the league structure.

 

“It will be a gathering of one big family, where ideas will be shared and collective decisions taken in the best interest of the league,” he added.

 

The mid-season retreat is expected to reinforce the NNL’s commitment to sustainable growth, improved administration, and greater commercial appeal as the season progresses.
