The Nigeria National League (NNL) has announced plans to increase the prize money for the 2026 Super 4 tournament, while also promising a more organized and competitive championship.

 

The NNL board disclosed that discussions are ongoing with sponsors to enhance the financial rewards for participating teams and individual award winners in this year’s competition.

 

The Super 4 tournament is scheduled to take place from May 1 to May 8, 2026, at the Remo Stars Stadium.

 

Unlike last season’s Super 8 format, which produced four teams promoted to the top-flight league, this year’s Super 4 will determine the overall champion of the NNL. The competition will feature a round-robin format involving the four conference winners from the 2025/2026 season.

 

Speaking on the development, NNL Chairman, George Aluo, said the league body is committed to improving the quality and appeal of the tournament.

 

“Right now we’re putting modalities on ground towards ensuring that all the teams that will participate in this year’s Super 4 are well taken care of and enjoy the hospitality available at Remo Stars facility,” Aluo stated.

 

He added that efforts are ongoing to secure better financial incentives.

 

“We’re also discussing with our sponsors on the need to increase the prize money and that of individual awards. I can assure you that this year’s Super 4 will be very interesting and better organized,” he assured.

 

The initiative is part of broader efforts by the NNL to enhance the competitiveness and professionalism of the league, as stakeholders continue to push for improved standards in Nigerian football.
