The leadership of the Nigeria National League has fined Sokoto United the sum of N1. 5m for an unsavory incident which was reported during their Matchday 3 with Kebbi United. 

In the match the supporters of Sokoto Utd FC were said to have disallowed the Match officials access into the dressing room at the end of the first half of the match, and stones/pebbles thrown at the match officials and  repeated same at the end of the match in addition to attack on Kebbi Utd  bus which led to  a player been injured.  

The intimidation and attack by the Supporters of Sokoto Utd which led to a delay in the restart of the second half of the match is an infraction of the rules and framework of the Nigeria National League. 

"Therefore, as a first offenders, the Nigeria National League has invoked articles 16.1, 16.4 and 27.1.3 only, and serious warning that a repeat of such act may lead to application of stiffer measures" .

"The Sokoto United Football Club is hereby fined the sum of One million (N1,000,000.00) naira only which must be paid on or
before 15" December, 2023, and handed the last warning to desist from such unsportsmanlike behavior capable of bringing the game to disrepute.

" In addition, Sokoto Utd FC is fined the sum of Fifty thousand (N50,000.00) naira; for the replacement of damaged screen of Kebbi Utd CF bus and hospital treatment cost for the injured player, Eli John" .

 The NNL also sanctioned Muhammad Dan Asabe, Chief Coach and Shehu Rilwanu, Goalkeeper Trainer of Sokoto Utd FC were suspended for two months for leading the attack on the match officials.

Kebbi United were told to play there next  three (3) home games of Kebbi Utd FC in Ginginya Memorial Stadium have been placed on closed door.

In another development,  Ijebu Utd FC  has been fined N500,000 for an act of hooliganism in the MatchDay 3 with  Tradesafe FC 

"A case of assault and hooliganism by supporters of ljebu Utd FC was reported to have occurred folowing a goal scored by the away team whereby stones and pebbles were thrown at the reserve bench of Tradesafe FC before the quick intervention by the security". 

It si pertinent to remind you that the current Board of the Nigeria National League si intolerant to any form of assault or hooliganism before, during and after league matches.

Based on article 27.1.3 of the NNL Framework, Ijebu Utd FC were fined  Five hundred thousand (N500,000.00) naira, which must be paid before their next home game of ljebu Utd FC.

The teams were however told that they reserve the right to accept in writng or appeal to the Disciplinary Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation within 48 hours.
