The Nationwide League One (NLO) Secretariat has issued a firm warning to clubs and state football associations, emphasizing the league’s zero-tolerance stance on attempts to manipulate match outcomes and flout established regulations.

 

In a statement signed by Chief Operating Officer Olushola Ogunnowo, the NLO expressed concern over what it described as a “series of antics” by certain club officials—particularly club chairmen—who allegedly seek to secure points through undue influence rather than fair competition.

 

“These individuals believe the Secretariat operates on sentiments, disregarding the clear rules and regulations that govern the league,” Ogunnowo stated. “Points are to be earned on the field of play, not off it—except in proven exceptional circumstances as outlined in the rulebook.”

 

The Secretariat reminded all stakeholders that the league’s regulations are available to every club in plain English and must be strictly adhered to. It also warned that disciplinary actions would be taken against any official found violating the rules.

 

“As the regulatory body, we will not hesitate to sanction erring officials who work against the integrity of the league,” Ogunnowo concluded.

 

The NLO’s statement comes at a time when integrity in Nigerian football continues to face scrutiny, underscoring the need for transparency and accountability at all levels of the game.
