The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has imposed a three-year ban on Nigerian Para powerlifter Kafilat Almaruf for violating anti-doping rules . Almaruf tested positive for an anabolic agent in a urine sample provided out-of-competition on July 11, 2024, breaching the IPC Anti-Doping Code.

The sample was analyzed using Gas Chromatography/Combustion/Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry (GC/C/IRMS), confirming the presence of an anabolic agent of exogenous origin. Exogenous anabolic steroids are prohibited at all times under the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) 2024 Prohibited List. 

Almaruf was provisionally suspended by the IPC on August 19, 2024, and has accepted the consequences of her violation. As a result, she will be ineligible for competition and other sporting activities for three years, from August 19, 2024, to August 18, 2027 . All her results from July 11, 2024, to August 19, 2024, are also disqualified, including any medals, points, and prizes.
