One Nigerian woman wey dem call Bilikesu Olagunju, wey dey work as caregiver for United Kingdom, don land for serious wahala as hidden camera catch am dey beat and maltreat 88-year-old dementia patient, John Attard, just few days before the man kpai.

 

The gbege happen on Christmas Eve 2022 for the old man house wey dey Bexley, Kent. Na the man pikin, Chris Attard, wey don dey suspect foul play, put the hidden camera for him papa house.

 

According to Mail Online, Olagunju never even complete one week for the job — na just six days she don work — when camera catch her strip the old man, drag am by collar and hand, and ignore am as the man dey cry say she dey hurt am.

 

At one point, she even threaten the poor man say:

 

“Maybe I go beat you. I go flog you. I go carry you go GP make dem give you injection. I go call police for you.”

 

As if that one no do, she still pour marmalade for the man coffee even though she sabi say the man get diabetes — something wey fit endanger him life more.

 

The next day — Christmas Day — dem find Mr. Attard for ground, no dey respond, with blood full him face. Dem rush am go hospital, but him no ever wake up again until ten days later when he die.

 

Even though autopsy no fit confirm say na the abuse cause the death, many people believe say e no be coincidence.

 

Olagunju, wey dey work for one agency called Unique Personnel UK, come later plead guilty for court say she maltreat person wey no get mental capacity to defend himself.

 

For Woolwich Crown Court for southeast London, the judge give her six weeks prison sentence, but suspend am for 18 months, plus 50 hours unpaid community service.

 

But the old man pikin, Chris Attard, vex for the judgment. He talk say:

 

“Na insult be this sentence. If camera no dey there, that woman fit still dey maltreat other old people like that.”

 

“I know say dem go suspend the sentence, but the time wey dem give and the community service join, na big joke. Wetin be the deterrent for here?”

 

Many people now dey call for stricter monitoring of caregivers and better protection for elderly people wey no fit defend themselves.
