Nigerian Activist Reportedly Arrested After Criticizing Police Misconduct

Nigerian activist Comrade Abiodun Olamide Thomas, widely known as “Horlarmidey Africano,” has reportedly been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force following her criticism of police misconduct.

According to SaharaReporters, Thomas had previously voiced concerns for her safety, alleging that Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Police Public Relations Officer, was targeting her.

Sources indicate that on Friday, December 13, she was “abducted” from her home in the Somolu area of Lagos. The arrest followed the detention of her brother a day earlier, reportedly to lure her out. Thomas was initially held at the Alade police station before being transferred to the State Command in Ikeja, where she remains in custody. Her brother has since been released.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest, though further details about the charges or the circumstances remain unclear.
