The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has officially unveiled its Calendar of Events for the January–September 2026 competitive season, outlining a comprehensive and strategically structured programme designed to strengthen domestic competitions, boost grassroots development, and enhance Nigeria’s presence on the continental stage.

 

The 2026 calendar underscores the Federation’s renewed commitment to excellence, inclusivity, youth development, and international competitiveness across both indoor and beach volleyball disciplines.

The season began in January with the nationwide registration of clubs and players, reinforcing compliance, eligibility standards, and structured participation within the national volleyball framework.

 

Key tournaments scheduled for February and March include:

• Super Cup 2026

• Presidential Cup Beach Volleyball

• Nigeria Police Games

• National Open/Star Tour

• Premier League Phase I

 

According to the Federation, these competitions are aimed at strengthening talent discovery, providing consistent competitive platforms, and ensuring technical standardisation across all zones.

The NVBF’s 2026 roadmap places significant emphasis on continental and international participation. Nigerian clubs and national teams are set to compete in several major events, including:

• CAVB Zone 3 Club Championship

• African Clubs Championship (Men and Women)

• Zone 3 Nations Cup

• Africa Beach Continental U21 Championship

• Nations Cup (Men and Women)

The Federation noted that these engagements will improve Nigeria’s rankings and global visibility, while exposing athletes and officials to elite standards of competition.

Beach volleyball remains a major focus for 2026, with multiple national tours, youth championships, and continental qualifiers scheduled throughout the season. The NVBF reaffirmed its commitment to developing beach volleyball infrastructure and strengthening technical capacity nationwide.

The Nigeria Premier Volleyball League will run in two phases, ensuring sustained competitive action for clubs across the season.

 

The Federation will also participate actively in the National Sports Festival, further promoting volleyball development at both state and grassroots levels.

As part of efforts to improve officiating standards, the NVBF will organise technical and referee development courses in collaboration with international bodies. This initiative aims to ensure Nigerian referees and officials remain competitive on the global stage.

The 2026 calendar represents more than just a schedule of events; it serves as a strategic blueprint for sustained growth, institutional strengthening, youth inclusion, and international competitiveness.
