Nigeria's youth handball teams delivered an impressive performance on the regional stage, achieving double triumph at the IHF Trophy Africa Zone 3 Phase in Lomé, Togo, on Saturday.
The Nigeria Under-18 team demonstrated their dominance and tactical prowess in the final, defeating Ivory Coast 32–19 to claim the championship title in their category.
From start to finish, the young squad controlled the game, reinforcing their reputation as a formidable presence in African youth handball.
In the Under-20 category, Nigeria continued their winning streak with another outstanding performance, overcoming Benin Republic 39–29 in the final. Their precise execution and offensive strength ensured a decisive victory, earning a second title for the country at the tournament.
With these achievements, both the Under-18 and Under-20 teams have been crowned champions of the IHF Trophy Africa Zone 3 Phase. Their victories also guarantee qualification for the continental stage, where they will compete against the top teams from across Africa.
This double success underscores Nigeria's ongoing commitment to grassroots handball development, as envisioned by the National Sports Commission.
