National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu don talk say Nigeria dey on track to become regional centre of excellence for counterterrorism by 2030. Ribadu talk this one for Abuja during the launch of the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) Strategic Plan 2025–2030. He bin dey represented by Major-General Adamu Laka.

 

According to Ribadu, the new strategy go serve as roadmap to strengthen Nigeria fight against t£rr0rism and vi0lent extremism. He talk say the plan build on the existing National Counter Terrorism Strategy, align with the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022, and aim to position Nigeria as regional leader for West Africa and the Sahel.

 

Ribadu highlight say for the last 20 years, Nigeria don face different forms of t£rr0rist thr£ats — from the North-East insurgency to new dangers wey dey show face for the North-West and South-East. Because of this, he talk say the country must use both kinetic and non-kinetic methods to handle the matter well.

 

He call for better unity and collaboration, stressing say no single security agency fit handle the fight alone.

According to am, “Na shared responsibility — government, security agencies, citizens and international partners must all join hand together.”

 

The Strategic Plan carry nine key priorities, including:

• Better intelligence and operational coordination

• Stronger legal backing for terrorism prosecutions

• Countering vi0lent extremism

• Improving regional cooperation

• Building institutional capacity

• Plus other measurable goals to track progress

 

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, also pledge the National Assembly support. He describe the plan as framework wey go help modernise security institutions, strengthen national resilience, and expand partnerships with civil society and international bodies.

 

Ribadu conclude say by 2030, Nigeria no only go dey more secure, but e go turn recognised hub for counterterrorism and symbol of resilience for the African continent.
