Nigeria Super Eagles have sealed their place in the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after a 4-2 penalty kicks win over South Africa's Bafana Bafana in a feisty semi final showdown in Bouake, Ivory Coast, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

After a barren first half, in which exchanges were even and opportunities rare, the Nigerians went in front seven minutes past the hour mark when on-field captain, William Troost-Ekong converted a penalty.

The Super Eagles though they had wrapped the match with a second goal but the Video Assistant Referee, VAR, chalked off the goal.

However, the South Africans came back into the game when Tehobo Mokoena converted from the spot on the dot of time in what clearly appears as a night of penalty kicks.

Mokoena's spot kick goal dragged the game into extra time with the South Africans finishing the game with 10 men following defender Grant Kekana's expulsion 25 minutes into the the extra time.

The South Africans managed to hold on tenaciously to full time, thus, dragging the game into penalty kicks.

Despite defender Ola Aina missing his kick, Super Eagles prevailed 4-2 with South Africa's Evidence Makgopa and Tehobo Mokoena missing their kicks to hand Super Eagles a semi final berth and a potential opportunity to pluck their fourth African Cup of Nations title.
