The Nigeria Basketball Federation has announced a landmark international preseason exhibition game between Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, D’Tigress, and the Los Angeles Sparks, scheduled for April 25, 2026, at Viejas Arena in San Diego.

 

The highly anticipated matchup forms part of D’Tigress’ global campaign as they prepare for upcoming international competitions, including the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup Qualifiers. The fixture, listed in the Sparks’ official preseason schedule, represents a major milestone in the continued rise of Nigerian basketball and women’s sports on the global stage.

This encounter will be the first-ever meeting between D’Tigress and the Los Angeles Sparks, one of the most decorated franchises in the WNBA. It underscores Nigeria’s growing presence in the global basketball ecosystem and reinforces its status as Africa’s leading force in the women’s game.

 

NBBF President, Musa Kida, described the game as a defining moment for the sport in the country.

The U.S. training camp and exhibition series have been strategically designed to strengthen the team ahead of a crucial competitive cycle.
