The Nigerian Baptist Convention Wednesday inaugurated the third African President of her Theological Seminary at Kawo, Kaduna State since the seminary was established in 1948.
Born 12th August, 1969 Moses Audi was formerly announced as Professor by the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) who doubles as the Convention President of the Baptist movement in Nigeria, Rev. Dr. Samson Olasupo Ayokunle in an electric ordination that took place at the Bethel Baptist Church located at the Kawo Campus of the Seminary.
Rev. Prof. Moses Audi is the first full Professor to head the seminary in 71 years after Associate Professors. B. U. Enyioha and Reuben Chuga whose term expired last December. Audi’s term starts from July 2019. His Professorship was from October 2018 but formerly put in the Baptist books from September 2019.
Professor Audi who hails from Baruten Local Government in Kwara State holds two PH.D degrees in Theology from the Baptsist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso and the other in Missions from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Texas – USA speaks five languages fluently namely English, French, Fulfude, Batonu and Yoruba.
Grinning with pleasure on the credentials of Audi in world Theological parlance, the Baptist Convention President, Rev. Olasupo Ayokunle told the congregation filled with Theological brats worldwide that the Nigerian Baptist Convention will as a matter of urgency conclude work on the development of the vast Baptist ground inherited on the Lagos – Ibadan Express way by 2020.
In his speech, Prof Audi thanked all for the honor done him and announced that the completion of the Chapel and Library at the permanent site of the Kaduna Seminary as well as movement to the site is his immediate priority. He had told me in an interview that he would pursue vigorously the accreditation of all the programmes of the institution with the Nigerian Universities Commission, (NUC).
A disciplined teacher, Audi was former Coordinator of Post Graduate Studies and Director of Academic Affairs of the Baptist Theological Seminary, Kaduna. He was formerly the Head of the Systematic Theology Department and Chaplain at the Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso.
A committed Missiology Scholar, Rev. Audi was at the MELM, Sevare in Mali August 2007 – July 2009 and was a former Missionary to the Ghana Baptist Convention.
He is a member of the World Cat Identities that monitors theological publications where record shows he has nine works in ten publications and with 45 library holdings.
Some of his publications are “World Christianity in Crisis: Globalization, Re-transmission, and Boko Haram’s Challenge to Nigerian Baptists (2000-2012)”; “Contemporary Issues in Systematic Theology: An African Christian Perspective (2011)”; “The Church as a Pilgrim Community (2014)” and “Understanding God and Destiny (2010)’’.
Professor Audi is married to Denise with four children – Cuumo Hazael, Juriido Joy, Isiyaaku Joel and Boddo Naomi.
