The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, has reaffirmed his dedication to the continued development of football in Nigeria, emphasizing alignment with international best practices.

Speaking over the weekend in Uyo during a mini-award presentation, Gusau received the Abdul Momoh Photography Ambassadorial Award of Excellence in recognition of his outstanding contributions to football administration in the country. The event took place at Monty Hotel, ahead of the FIFA World Cup qualifier between Nigeria and Rwanda.

Gusau expressed appreciation for the honour, stating that the recognition would serve as further motivation to deepen efforts toward the advancement of Nigerian football. He also underscored the Federation’s ongoing commitment to attracting private sector partnerships as a key strategy to sustain growth across all levels of the game.

“We will not relent in our mission to reposition Nigerian football and align it with global standards,” Gusau said. “This award is not just for me, but for everyone working tirelessly to uplift the sport in our country.”

Also present at the event were Dr. Philip Shaibu, former Deputy Governor of Edo State and current Director-General of the Nigeria Institute of Sports, and Kanu Nwankwo, former Super Eagles captain and football icon.

The gathering highlighted the growing synergy between sports administration and private initiatives aimed at celebrating and supporting progress within Nigerian football.
