The Nigeria Football Federation Congress, meeting at its Emergency General Assembly in Yenagoa, has taken key decisions shaping the future of Nigerian football administration.

 

Top on the agenda was the unanimous approval of amendments to the NFF Statutes (March 2026 Edition), alongside updates to the Electoral Code and the Standing Orders of the General Assembly, as presented by the Executive Committee.

 

The Congress also approved the appointment of 12 individuals—two from each geopolitical zone—to serve across the NFF Electoral Committee and the Electoral Appeals Committee. These members will be inaugurated in Abuja on March 25, 2026, where they will subsequently select their chairpersons. In line with regulations, five members will serve on the Electoral Committee with two alternates, while three will serve on the Appeals Committee with two alternates.

 

In another major decision, Congress ratified the appointment of Ernst & Young (EY) as the new Independent Auditor of the NFF for an initial four-year term, following a competitive selection process involving seven firms. The Congress also commended PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) for its nine years of meritorious service.

 

Furthermore, delegates approved Lafia as the host city for the 2026 NFF Elective Congress, scheduled to take place on September 26, 2026.

 

The assembly concluded with a unanimous vote of confidence in the NFF Executive Committee led by Ibrahim Musa Gusau, commending their efforts in advancing football development across Nigeria.
