President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and West African Football Union Zone B (WAFU-B), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON), has extended warm congratulations to ASEC Mimosas Ladies following their thrilling victory in the UFOA-B Women’s Club Championship and subsequent qualification for the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League.

 

The Ivorian champions secured their place in the continental showpiece after edging out their opponents in a nail-biting 8-7 penalty shootout, capping off a spirited and hard-fought tournament performance.

 

In a statement released on Sunday, Gusau praised the team for their resilience, composure, and quality of play, saying their triumph reflects the growing strength and competitiveness of women’s football in the WAFU-B region.

 

“On behalf of the WAFU-B Executive Committee and the Nigeria Football Federation, I heartily congratulate ASEC Mimosas Ladies for this well-deserved victory,” Gusau said.

Gusau also lauded the organizers, participating teams, and host nation for a successful tournament, adding that the standard of football displayed reaffirms WAFU-B’s position as a rising force in African women’s club football.

 

He encouraged ASEC Mimosas to carry the region’s flag with pride on the continental stage, expressing confidence in their ability to compete with the best clubs in Africa.

 

The 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League is expected to be the most competitive yet, as more clubs across Africa invest in the development of the women’s game. ASEC Mimosas will now represent WAFU-B at the prestigious tournament.

The WAFU-B Women’s Club Championship, often referred to as UFOA-B, serves as the qualifying competition for the CAF Women’s Champions League, the premier continental competition for women’s club football in Africa.
