The leadership of the National Association for Women in Sports (NAWIS) has lauded the Governing Council of the Federal University of Education, Kontagora for its decision to appoint Professor Faruq Rasheed Haruna as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the institution.

This commendation was contained in a statement from NAWIS signed by the National President of the umbrella body of retired and active Sportswomen in the country, Professor Mariam Suleiman, of the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria; on behalf of the executive committee, and members of the association, congratulating Alhaji Haruna.

The message made available to reporters in Abuja, attests to the sterling qualities of Professor Haruna, a stunch supporter of NAWIS, “for his outstanding contributions to education, leadership, and academic excellence, in Nigeria”. 

The NAWIS helmswoman described Faruq as a distinguished scholar and administrator whose dedication and vision have continued to inspire progress in the Nigerian education system.

Will wishing her a fruitful and successful tenure, Professor Suleiman also offered her prayers, asking the Almighty God to bless him with divine wisdom, strength, and good health to discharge hid duties effectively.
