NAUAA United Kingdom Makes History, Hold Successful Maiden Summer Reunion

Nnamdi Azikiwe University Alumni Association (NAUAA), United Kingdom on Saturday, 26th July, 2025 made history by holding a maiden Summer Reunion.
The maiden Summer Reunion with the theme, "Joy is Coming," which was held in Hounslow, London was a remarkable, memorable and heartwarming gathering bringing together Zikites from across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in what would be described as a beautiful celebration of unity, conviviality and shared heritage.
The Chairman of the occasion, Chief Sir Dozie Donat Okolo, a distinguished alumnus and erstwhile presidential candidate in the 2023 NAUAA elections in Awka, Anambra State, in his keynote address, titled, "The impact of Diaspora Alumni on the Nigerian Economy", offered thought-provoking insights while setting the tone for an engaging evening.
Chief Okolo informed that the colourful event was an occasion to reminisce and reflect about their university days at UNIZIK and a platform for members to ponder on how they can add value to the system in the aspect of raising the institution's visibility.
On his part, the Interim President of NAUAA UK, Stanley-Pio Onwuzuruike, in his address emphasized the need for a strong, connected alumni community—one that uplifts its members in the UK while also supporting underprivileged students and strengthening the broader UNIZIK family back home. He called on other members to unite to strengthen the alumni bond with a bigger picture of contributing to the ivory tower's growth in the areas of teaching, research, community service and academic excellence.
Mr. Onwuzuruike while describing the occasion as a proud and joyous moments for Zikites in the United Kingdom eulogized the Planning Committee Chairman, Chief Emeka Onyeje (Ezeugonnaya) and the entire organizing team for hosting such an inspiring and impactful event.
Beyond the formal agenda of the event filled with love and laughter, it also served as a joyful celebration of the 22nd wedding anniversary of a Zikite couple, alongside recognition of other alumni couples whose unions began within the walls of UNIZIK as the atmosphere of the momentus converge buzzed with excitement while attendees danced, networked, and rekindled old friendships.
Highpoints of the occasion was the official unveiling of the NAUAA UK muffler and formal investiture of her members. An entertaining American-style auction added flair to the evening, with one item attracting a top bid of £550.
The night’s festivities were expertly anchored by celebrity compere and renowned Zikite, MC A1, whose charisma kept the energy alive throughout the course of the colourful programme.
