The Torch of Unity Relay, signifying the commencement of the 22nd National Sports Festival slated to hold in Abeokuta, the Ogun State, moves across the North-East Zone States.

Flagged off by the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on March 25, 2025 at the Aso Rock Villa, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, The  Torch Relay is one of the rituals to signpost the National Sports Festival. 

The Zonal Coordinator, National Sports Commission North East Zonal Office, Bauchi Mr. Okere Emmanuel confirmed that arrangements had been concluded for a colourful Torch of Unity movement to showcase the beautiful cultural and sports strength of the zone.

 

He stressed that the Torch movement schedules released by the Main Organising Committee, MOC began on April 5, 2025 in Bauchi State while the second tour of the movement was held on April 7 in Gombe State.

 

The movement continues today in Taraba State while another destination of the torch in the northeast zone takes place tomorrow in Adamawa State

The Unity torch relay movement will proceed to Borno State tomorrow and end in Yobe State on April 11, 2025.
