The Nigeria Premier Football League served up another weekend of drama, heartbreak and jaw-dropping twists as giants stumbled, underdogs roared, and goal nets trembled across the country.

In Umuahia, the Solid Miners of Nasarawa United dug deep and struck gold on enemy territory, stunning the high-flying Abia Warriors inside the fortress of the “Umu Chineke Boys.” The Warriors had been riding a wave of confidence after climbing to second on the table, but Nasarawa reminded everyone of the grit and steel that once kept them perched at the summit for weeks.

Obioma Chukwuemeka fired Abia ahead in the 42nd minute, sending the home fans into early celebration. But barely had the second half resumed when Habibu Alakija silenced the crowd with a swift equaliser in the 47th minute. The real dagger arrived eight minutes later — Jofrank Istifanus struck in the 55th minute, completing the turnaround. Abia threw everything forward in desperate search of salvation, but Nasarawa stood tall, defending like warriors of their own to steal a priceless away victory.

Just like their oriental brothers, the People’s Elephant of Aba, Enyimba continued their season of frustrating inconsistency, suffering a painful defeat in Minna against a ruthless Niger Tornadoes side. Abdulrasheed Shehu Dabai pounced on Ahmadu Liman’s pass in the 66th minute to break the deadlock, before super sub Rickson Mendos delivered the knockout blow in the 88th minute. Tornadoes held firm to secure a vital home triumph and deepen Enyimba’s misery.

In Enugu, uncertainty off the pitch did nothing to slow down the rampaging Rangers International, as goals rained heavily at the Cathedral. Godwin Obaje ignited the demolition with two lightning strikes in the 1st and 11th minutes. Warri Wolves briefly threatened a comeback when Israel Oladeji pulled one back in the 56th minute, but Chimobi Igwilo crushed all hope with a stunning brace in the 71st and 76th minutes. Seth Mayi’s late penalty only served as cosmetic relief in stoppage time as Rangers roared to a commanding victory.

Elsewhere, Qamar Adegoke’s 71st-minute thunderbolt handed the Oluyole Warriors a much-needed win against a resurgent Bendel Insurance. In Bauchi, Wikki Tourists compounded the woes of struggling Kano Pillars, who now appear trapped in relegation quicksand. Goals from Taheer Abubakar (43rd) and Klinshak Longbak (65th) pushed the Tourists up the table.

Barau’s recent resurgence suffered a dent as they were held to a 1–1 draw by Bayelsa United. Ettah Ikoi struck first for Bayelsa in the 29th minute before Yahaya Ibrahim restored parity from the penalty spot six minutes later.

Late drama lit up the contest as Muktar Ismail’s 89th-minute strike rescued Elkanemi Warriors from embarrassment against in-form Ikorodu City, lifting them to ninth on the table.

In Kano, it was no victor, no vanquish, as relegation-threatened Plateau United dug deep to grind out a hard-fought result against Katsina United, boosting their survival hopes in a tense relegation battle.

Another weekend, another reminder in the NPFL, nothing is ever predictable.
