Nasarawa United Slammed with Hefty Fines and Sanctions
The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has charged Nasarawa United for breaching the league's framework and rules during their Matchday 18 fixture against Rivers United on December 22, 2024.
The Lafia-based club was found guilty of encroaching onto the field of play, failing to ensure proper conduct of their team and supporters, and failing to provide adequate security. This led to the assault on the away team and a match official, centre referee Musibaudeen Ibrahim.
As a result, the NPFL has imposed the following sanctions:
- A fine of N3 million
- Deduction of 3 points and 3 goals from their accrued points and goals
- Identification and prosecution of individuals involved in the assault
- Closure of the Lafia City Stadium to fans until security is enhanced
Nasarawa United has 48 hours to appeal the sanctions.
