Singer and rapper Naira Marley, whose real name is Azeez Fashola, has issued a warning to young people about the dangers of excessive sports betting, stating that it is not a legitimate form of employment.

In a post on his X handle, the "Tesumole" crooner advised Nigerian youths to stop "wasting" their money on gambling. "Football bet no be work bro," he wrote. "Please stop before they finish you."

Naira Marley's comments come amid growing concern about the impact of sports betting on the nation's youth. According to a report by Business Insider Africa earlier this year, Nigeria was ranked as the top sports betting nation on the continent, with 70% of the population under 30 actively engaged in gambling. The report estimated that there are 168.7 million active bettors in Nigeria.
