As Boxing fans in Enugu State await the forthcoming South East Boxing Tournament, in memory of Late Chief Dr, Osondu Ogbu, the Onowu of Ezimo kingdom, organizer, Obiamaka Cordelia Ogbu has described her husband a passionate lover of boxing.

The one-day tournament which is jointly organized by Oldskool generation Lounge and event center and the Enugu State Boxing Association (ENSBA), will see boxers from Enugu and environs battle for top honors in different boxing categories. 

The late Chief Osondu Ogbu was the Chairman of Enugu State Boxing Association (ENSBA), as well as the chairman of South East Boxing Association until his death.

In an interview with newsmen ahead of the forth coming tournament billed for Tuesday April 22, Ogbu said the only way to show honour and respect to the husband, who gave everything for the sport, was to organize such a tournament.

“ My husband is so passionate about boxing and the only way to make him happy wherever he is right now is to continue with his legacy, I am sure he will be extremely happy because boxing brings him joy” she said. 

Mrs Ogbu, who is currently occupying the position of the Chairperson of the Enugu State Boxing Association (ENSBA), a position her husband held until his death last year, said that the tournament would be an Annual event.

"God's willing I will want it to be an annual event because I know that is what he will want , " she said.

She described the late Chief Ogbu as a loving husband and a philanthropist.

"My husband was a loving man ,a philanthropist, a loving husband and father to my children.

"Very hardworking, kind and caring and very passionate about the things he loved; I know his soul is at peace because he did great and kind things on earth, " she said.

She urged boxing lovers in Enugu State and Southeast in general to come and watch boxing talents.
Venue for the tournament is the Old skool generation lounge and event center Nza road Enugu and it will begin by 2pm on tne 22nd of April 2025. 
Top dignitaries including the hourable commissioner for Youth and Sports Enugu state Hon Bar Lloyd Ike - Ekwerenmadu are expected to grace the occasion.
