Mr Macaroni: Nigerians Must Hold Leaders Accountable, Not Just Celebrities

Popular Nigerian comedian and actor, Debo Adedayo, also known as Mr Macaroni, has stated that Nigerian politicians are corrupt and reprehensible because they know that citizens will not hold them accountable. He made this assertion while responding to a social media post that asked Nigerians to unfollow celebrities who fail to speak out on specific issues in the country.

Mr Macaroni emphasized that citizens should not expect celebrities to make sacrifices that they themselves are not willing to make. He argued that it is unfair to pressure public figures into speaking about certain issues, especially when they may face backlash for doing so.

The actor cited an example of Nigerians ignoring police brutality on the streets but attacking celebrities online for not speaking out against the issue. He maintained that when Nigerians genuinely want change, they will not wait for celebrities to speak out, but will instead take charge and lead the charge for change themselves.

Mr Macaroni concluded by emphasizing the need for Nigerians to come together and hold their leaders accountable, rather than just relying on celebrities to speak out. He stated, "The reason why Nigerian Politicians are so corrupt and reprehensible is because they know that the people would never hold them accountable. Nigerians adapt to any situation. The politicians know this and continue to exploit it. We all must come together as one! Celebrity or not, irrespective of our tribal and religious sentiments. We must unite and hold our Leaders to account."
