A Spanish vehicle manufacturer, Irizar, has confirmed that all buses used for the transportation of players, officials, and accredited delegations at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco will be returned to their owners immediately after the tournament.

The clarification was issued following widespread public speculation over the ownership and possible post-tournament use of the buses currently seen conveying national teams and CAF officials between match venues, hotels, and official events.

 

According to Irizar, the fleet of buses deployed for AFCON 2025 belongs solely to the company and was rented to the Moroccan organizers strictly for the duration of the competition. The Spanish manufacturer stressed that the arrangement was purely contractual and time-bound.

 

“The buses were provided exclusively for AFCON 2025 and will be shipped back to the company once the tournament ends,” Irizar stated, dismissing claims that the vehicles would be retained by local authorities or repurposed after the event.

 

The buses have been a prominent feature of the tournament’s logistics, ensuring seamless transportation across host cities as Morocco successfully stages Africa’s flagship football competition.

 

AFCON 2025 is scheduled to conclude this weekend, after which all logistics and operational arrangements associated with the tournament, including the transportation fleet, will formally come to an end.
