Minister Alake Announces Exclusive Distribution of Presidential Rice Relief to Elderly
Dr. Dele Alake, Minister of Solid Minerals Development, has announced that the 1,200 bags of rice allocated to his ministry by President Tinubu for relief efforts will be distributed exclusively to the elderly in the state.
In a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media, Segun Tomori, Alake explained that the decision to prioritize the elderly is in line with the "Omoluabi values" of caring for the old in the community. He noted that the elderly often lack the strength to compete for welfare goods at established centers, making them a vulnerable group in need of support.
Alake assured that subsequent interventions will target other segments of the population, including widows, orphans, persons living with disabilities, and students in higher institutions of learning.
The distribution of the rice relief is part of the Presidency's efforts to make food more available at the grassroots level and respond to the needs of the Nigerian people.
