Megwo Hits Second League Goal as Abia Warriors Secure 2–0 Win Over Barau FC in Umuahia
Abia Warriors forward Sunday Megwo continued his fine run of form as he scored his second league goal of the season, helping his side to a 2–0 victory over Barau FC in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 10 fixture played at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Sunday.
The home side, who were looking to bounce back from recent setbacks, put up a commanding display in front of their fans. Megwo sealed the win in the 61st minute, calmly slotting home a loose ball after a defensive mix-up from the visitors to make it 2–0 for the hosts.
It was a result that restored confidence within the camp of the Umuahia-based side, who controlled possession and showed greater attacking intent throughout the contest.
Speaking after the match, Megwo expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance and praised the collective effort that delivered the win.
“Yes, I’m happy that we won the game and deserved to secure the maximum points,” Megwo said. “I think we played really well throughout and there’s still more to come.”
“It wasn’t an easy game against Barau FC—we knew that before kickoff—but we showed character and determination which helped us secure the win. It’s a massive three points for us,” he added.
The Umuahia-born striker has now contributed two goals and one assist in four league appearances for Abia Warriors this season, establishing himself as a key player in the team’s attacking setup.
With the win, Abia Warriors move up the NPFL standings as they continue their push for consistency ahead of their next fixture.
