Megwo Hails Team’s Performance in Abia Warriors’ 2-0 Win Over Akwa United

 

Abia Warriors forward Sunday Megwo has praised his team’s solid performance in their 2-0 victory over Akwa United in a Matchday 22 encounter on Sunday at the Umuahia Township Stadium.

 

Megwo, who featured in the game under coach Imama Amapakabo, played a key role as Abia Warriors bounced back to winning ways with a dominant display in front of their home supporters.

 

Speaking after the match, the Super Eagles B forward highlighted the team’s improvement following their 3-2 loss to Remo Stars last Wednesday in Ikenne.

 

“Yes, it was a strong team performance, and we deserved all three points because of how we played,” Megwo said.

 

He acknowledged the challenge posed by Akwa United, who are currently battling relegation, but expressed satisfaction with how Abia Warriors managed to secure the win.

 

“We knew we had to be at our best against a team like Akwa United. They made it difficult for us early in the game, but I’m glad we found a way to win. At this stage of the season, getting maximum points is all that matters.”

 

He also emphasized the team’s collective effort and determination that led to the victory.

 

Megwo is enjoying a breakout season, having scored seven league goals in 16 appearances. The Umuahia-born forward will look to continue his impressive form when Abia Warriors host Sunshine Stars in a Matchday 23 fixture on Sunday, February 9, 2025.
