Dr Oba Funsho Usman is the Assistant Director in charge of sports at the FCT Universal Basic Education Board.
He was incharge of the achievements FCT recorded in football, basketball, athletics at the secondary school level nationally and internationally recently.
Oba Funsho Usman is a thoroughly bred professional from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he obtained a bachelors degree in Physical and Health Education in 1999. After passing through the popular Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin in 1987.
In 2007, he returned to Ahmadu Bello University Zaria for a Masters Degree in Physical Education, and later a Doctorate Degree in Sports Management from the same University.
At the FCT Universal Basic Education Board, he has been in the School Sports Unit for over two decades.
He was at the FCT School Sports Division from 2003 to 2005, FCT Education Department, School Sport Division 2000 to 2003, he was the games master of Government Girls Secondary School, Dutse, Abuja from 1994 to 2000, where he was also a class teacher.
Dr Usman is a member of various professional associations among which are the Nigeria Association for Physical health Education Recreation, Sports & Dance (NAPHER, SD), National Association of Athletics Technical Officials (NAATO) and was recently appointed as a member of the NOC Olympic Education and Culture Commission.
Dr Funsho's passion for grassroots sports development is second to none. He approaches it with passion and dedication. He is a humble and well disciplined man, that stands out in whatever responsibility he is invested with.
