Mbakogu Heroics Salvages Point For Peace FC In NLO Playoff Draw Versus Campos
BY SAB OSUJI, in Owerri
Chibuike Sabastine Mbakogu, Peace FC goalkeeper, emerged the undisputed hero of the day as the Anambra Boys salvaged a point in their thrilling scoreless draw versus Campos FC in a Match Day two fixture of the 2024 NLO Playoffs at OISA Stadium, Okpala, near Owerri, on Monday.
Mbakogu's extraordinary reflexes and reading helped him save a late penalty by Campos captain, Chidi Ebube, much to the frustration of his team players and officials.
Mbakogu gazed rightly, went down timely to cuddle Ebube's right footed effort. It was the major talking point of the clash that kept spectators on the edge of their seats.
Peace FC were beaten 2-1 by St Nwadinso in their Saturday's opening match and needed Monday's improved performance and luck to put their campaign back on track.
On Wednesday, Peace will face Safe African Child in a Match Day three fixture while Campos trade tackle with Ikukuoma in an Imo Derby.
