May Yul-Edochie Sues Former Lawyer, U.S.-Based Woman for Cyberbullying, Demands N1.5 Billion Compensation

May Yul-Edochie, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, has taken decisive legal action against her former legal counsel, Emeka Ugwuonye, and a United States-based social media user, Yinka Theisen, over alleged cyberbullying and defamation.
According to Naija News, May’s legal team, Graylaw Partners, issued separate cease-and-desist letters to both individuals, accusing them of spreading damaging and defamatory content across platforms including X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook.
The legal documents allege that the posts have tarnished her reputation, caused emotional distress, and negatively impacted her business ventures.
In the strongly worded letters, her lawyers demanded the removal of all defamatory posts, public apologies, and retractions to be published on the same platforms where the alleged defamatory content was shared.
Additionally, N1 billion in damages is being demanded from Ugwuonye, while Theisen is being asked to pay N500 million in compensation.
The notice to Ugwuonye specifically accuses him of breaching client confidentiality, alleging that he mishandled privileged information obtained during his time as her lawyer. The letter states that his public actions have “worsened the situation” and “exposed [her] to further harm.”
In Theisen’s case, she is accused of amplifying false narratives and encouraging others to spread them online, allegedly deepening the harm to May’s public image and personal life.
Both Ugwuonye and Theisen have been given a 48-hour deadline to comply with the demands. Failure to do so, the letters warn, will result in civil and criminal legal action aimed at defending May’s rights and restoring her reputation.
As of the time of this report, neither Ugwuonye nor Theisen has publicly responded to the allegations or the legal demands.
The legal move marks a significant escalation in what has become a high-profile case involving personal betrayal, social media controversy, and ongoing public interest in the private life of one of Nollywood’s most talked-about couples.
