Maureen Mmadu, a former Super Falcons midfielder and later Assistant Coach of Nigeria Senior National Women's Football Team, has taken the positives from her U17 Boys 1-0 defeat in the 2024 Anambra FA Chairman's Boys Cup competition at the Eziowelle Civic Center on Sunday, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

Scouting Talents Football Academy scored early in the first period against the 'unsettled' MM Boys and held on till the final whistle despite the spirited performance of the debutants in the second half.

Despite the loss of their first competitive match, the 'Yellow Submarines' still held their heads high, having put on show the rich quality and potentials that obviously abound in the team put together a few months ago by the Nigeria Women Football Legend, Maureen Mmadu, which she single handedly coaches and finances alongside their women counterparts, Maureen Mmadu Kiddies Camp, MMKC.

The experienced and former  Norway based Nigeria international did not lose her cool, confidence and courage afterwards as she disects the game.

"It was a good match, very tough I must say", starts the dark-skinned midfielder now turned gaffer.

"The players gave it their all. Don't forget, it's their first competitive game. We came to win but you must take the positives in situations like this.

"They fought well, especially in the second half. They didn't settle in early enough, hence the early goal they conceded. But as the game wore on, they picked their pieces and their confidence came up.

"Like I said, it was a learning curve and we've taken the positives so we can get better in the future".

Mmadu has huge experience in the game having spent decades playing in Europe, precisely Norway and Sweden.

While in Norway, Mmadu, who cut her women football teeth with Ado Babes of Onitsha then coached by Jideofor Offia, 'Chainsilo', featured for Sandviken, Klepp IL, before moving to Sweden where she spent two seasons with QBIK in 2006 and Linkoping FC in 2007.

In 2008, Mmadu returned to Norway where she penned a two season deal with Amazons Grimstad (2008-2009) before joining Kolbotn IL in 2010.

Avaldsnes IL was the last club she played for in Norway before switching to coaching after bagging her UEFA Coaching Badge.

The former Pelican Queens and Jegede Babes midfielder featured for Super Falcons in four FIFA Women's World Cup finals and two Summer Olympic Games in 2000 and 2004.
