Lizzy Gold Expresses Disappointment Over Father’s Reaction to Generous Easter Gift

Nollywood actress Lizzy Gold has opened up about a recent emotional letdown involving her father, expressing disappointment over what she described as his growing sense of entitlement.
In a candid post shared on her social media page, the actress recounted how she often surprises her father with late-night money transfers, ensuring he wakes up to bank alerts and responds with heartfelt prayers—a gesture she cherishes deeply.
However, things took a different turn this past Easter. Lizzy revealed that after receiving a message from her father earlier in the day requesting, “Baby how far na? Do Easter for your papa na,” she waited until 2 a.m. to send him a “huge amount” of money—significantly more than her usual gifts. But instead of receiving his usual warm words of blessing, he simply replied, “Thanks.”
“I wasn’t happy,” Lizzy said. “This money is ten times more than what I usually send, and all I got was just ‘thanks’? No prayer, nothing else.”
When she called to express her disappointment, her father told her he had prayed for her in his heart. But Lizzy explained that those vocal prayers were important to her—they’re what push her to keep going.
“He probably thinks, ‘She’s my daughter. She’s supposed to give me money.’ But I don’t pluck money from trees. I work really hard for it,” she added. “So, I’ve decided I won’t be surprising him again.”
The actress’s post has sparked conversations online about the emotional expectations tied to gift-giving within families, and the fine line between gratitude and entitlement.
